Community Service Begins at Home
Inspired by her family, her community, her island home and most notably her mentors, service to others is a guiding principal in Candes' life. She is known for always going the extra mile to put a smile on people's faces. Having served as an example of heart, health and happiness whether it be as a volunteer at her son's schools, at sporting events, as an Official State Hostess or for her local community theatre, Candes is steadfast in her commitment to service above self. She is always eager to lend a helping hand and loves to create memorable experiences by hosting and coordinating events for the non-profit organizations she supports. Each year at the Miss Hawai'i Pageant the winner of the Talent competition is awarded the Candes Meijide Gentry Performing Arts Cash Scholarship
